Local Priorities Nuisance motorbikes / Scooters Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Nuisance motorbikes / Scooters, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Good morning!

This month I've focused on public perception and the ongoing issue with off road bikes.

This has resulted in me issuing of 2 Section 59's on vehciles being driven in an anti-social manner. Positively identifying two further offenders driving without insurance will hopefully result in prosecution. Targeted Patrols in relation to vehicle crime led to the seizure of a van on cloned plates. A linked vehicle also on cloned plates was also seized, following intel gathered by myself.

In Gowerton, I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time, during a dog attack. I was able to intervene, resulting in the dogs being saved and the attacking dog seized.

Primary school visits were conducted at Ysgol Login Fach and Waunarlwydd Primary for their end of term fetes. It was brilliant to see the children enjoying the police vehicle and engaging with us. I was asked by one child "how many police officers are there in the world?" To which I replied "not enough!"

Enjoy the summer holidays and stay safe!

John

Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police.

February 2025 saw the publication of the Ministry of Justice Crime and Policing Bill: Antisocial behaviour (ASB) factsheet. This outlined a number of new measures including making powers to seize vehicles under section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 easier to use, allowing the police to react robustly and immediately to the anti-social use of motor vehicles.

If you witness a motor vehicle or mechanically propelled vehicle being driven/ridden in an anti-social manner in a public place or on a public road, or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at www.southwalespolice.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
